U Drop Inn Shamrock Texas

The U-Drop Inn is Shamrock's visitor information center. It's located on historic Route 66 and U.S. Highway 83.

In 2015, a Tesla electric vehicle charging station was added behind the building.

The building was constructed in 1936 and has always been a gas station (called the Tower Station) and cafe.

The building fell in to disrepair after Route 66 was decommissioned in 1985. It closed in the late 1990s.

Why Visit

For Texas automotive and nostalgia enthusiasts (that's us!), this building is a must see as it is a symbol of Route 66, a great example of art deco architecture, an old gas station and classic cafe.

In addition, professional and amateur photographers could spend hours taking photographs to capture the beautiful neon glow against the art deco design.
