The Corvette Could Be So Much More

The idea that Corvette should become a GM brand is a no brainer.
In my mind, I have always seen Corvette as a stand-alone brand. Unleashing the Corvette brand would fill the vacuum in the American performance luxury market.
I have owned three Corvettes. But my second vehicle has never been a Chevrolet. I want to buy from GM, but apart from the Corvette, they don't make what I want.
What about Cadillac? No. Cadillac is luxury.
What about Buick? No. So boring.
With no compelling options, all I can do is dream.
Here are three cars Corvettes should make.
1. The Stingray based on the C7. The C7 should live on as a classic, affordable, american sports car.
2. A four-door Gran Turismo would be appreciated for its performance, luxury, and roadtrip qualities. The Porsche Taycan is an example.
3. A crossover like the Lamborghini Urus would be awesome. It would be a daily driver, a grocery getter, a back roads explorer, and still be luxurious enough for a night on the town. I would probably opt for this one. But I'd buy them all if I could.
Will Corvette ever become its own brand? I doubt it.
But if Chevrolet made a crossover using the Corvette design language then I would buy it. And if Chevrolet can sell a Corvette Z06 for 200 grand, then they shouldn't have any problem with a sport luxury crossover inspired by Corvette. Chevrolet Mako?
The Corvette could be so much more.
