Skishores Cafe

By: jwilder

By boat or by car, this is one of our favorite getaways. Exiting 2222 on to city Park road is the beginning of the experience (as long as you don't have a local on your tail). The winding shoulderless two lane road is fun to drive. The view of the lake from the cafe is beautiful and there is always a breeze. People watching as well as dog watching adds to the entertainment. they also have live music on certain days.

From the website:

"Since 1954, Ski Shores saw much success. Unfortunately, its doors closed in December of 2009. A little piece of Austin was gone. Having been big fans of Ski Shores over the years, Restaurant Freedom Co-founders Rick Engel and Mark Turner both agreed that the property had too much Austin history to just go away. So they took on the task of revitalizing what is now known as Ski Shores Cafe.... and in April 2010, the Austin icon was back."
