Located on I-10 midway between San Antonio and El Paso, Fort Stockton’s 1,100 motel rooms offer visitors multiple options for an overnight stay. The Visitor Center, located midtown, is housed in a 100 year old train depot and contains information on the City’s many Historic Sites including the Old Fort Grounds, the Annie Riggs Museum and the Historic Driving Tour; all vital to the community’s growing tourism industry. Big Bend Open Road Race
Fort Stockton has hosted the northern end of the Big Bend Open Road Race for eight years now, and, would like to extend a West Texas Welcome for you to join us on the fun and excitement. Together with Sanderson we put on one of the best road races around not to mention we have one of the most breath taking and challenging roads to race : fifty-nine miles each way for a total of a 118 mile course.
Enthusiasts call this one of the most exciting open road races in the world. The event draws racers from around the U.S. to match their skills against 118 miles of twists, turns, and elevation changes. The route follows Highway 285 from Fort Stockton to Sanderson and back. The event also features a car show, parade and more.
